TVNZ News: Car explodes on Cuba Street
The problem with fractional reserve banking had an airing in Wellington, New Zealand today.
A man in his 30s or 40s had a message which was "What is fractional reserve banking? Google it!"
Mike's admonition that you change nothing until you change how money works may be coming more sharply into focus for some.

Oil Shock Horror Probe: Huge blowout in New Zealand oil import cost
Let us not forget Peak Oil.
In the year to September oil imports rose 22% to $7.7 billion. Oil is costing NZ $1.4 billion more than a year ago.
If this price trend continues then by 2015 our annual oil import bill will soar to $17 billion and will be $11 billion more than it was in 2010. That annual extra cost will be greater than the government's contribution to the Christchurch earthquake.
