"Canada closed its Tehran embassy and expelled Iranian diplomats yesterday, expressing concern for the mission's safety and slamming Iran's support for the Syrian regime and its threats against Israel.

"Canada's position on the regime in Iran is well known. Canada views the government of Iran as the most significant threat to global peace and security in the world today," Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said."

We also ran a story recently about soon having 3 carriers in the Arabian Sea for a brief time.

My take on all of this is that the US and its allies are showing off a unified allied diplomatic "front" and are having a show of military force in the Arabian Sea in order to give Israel some credibility and an "honorable" chance to step-back from their threats. Bibi needs a stepped up international threat against Iran in order to save face while backing off the idea of an Israeli solo-attack on Iran, per Obama's directives. We had an article a couple days ago that stated as much, with good sourcing. It all makes perfect twisted sense and I have almost zero fear of being wrong on this.

Now here's what wouldn't make any sense at all: Obama starting WWIII in the Persian Gulf just before his upcoming landslide re-election. Yes, many folks including myself see a financial crash coming soon, but in terms of Obama's re-election prospects, so what? Obama would use it to hammer the Republicans for stalling financial reforms and for all (or no) actions the R's have taken to defeat Obama at the cost of the economy and American jobs. Team O probably has the ad copies lined up and ready to go in case the dow drops 1000 or more points before November. I'd bet on it.

In theory, it is possible for Obama to lose this election, but he'd have to get caught in bed with a dead hooker or a live boy. He is not going to light the world on fire, or let Israel do it - not now, no way. – Wes
