China curbs Iran energy work

China is playing both sides of the fence here.  Under the threat of sanctions from the US and to protect its short-term financial interests, China is slowing down energy infrastructure projects in neighboring Iran.  However, in the long-term, China's energy interests and therefore its economic interests lie with easily accessible and secure energy to feed its people.  This same thing happened a year ago, click here.  So China's repeated move is to move slowly and cautiously.  There is absolutely no chance that China will withdraw from Iran fully, they can't afford to leave... just like the United States in Iraq.  -- Luis Mora, Editorial Committee
