CORPUS CHRISTI - Thousands of people were left without power after a copper thieves hit an AEP power substation today.
Earlier Monday morning a copper theft was reported from the AEP substation in Flour Bluff. AEP spokesperson Omar Lopez says the wire stolen was the ground wire that lead up to the transformers. Because of the location of the wires they had to shut off power for about 4,100 customers so they could repair it.
