"At the depths of the worst foreclosure crisis since the Great Depression, we are surprised that the Fed has proposed rules that would eviscerate the primary protection homeowners currently have to escape abusive loans and avoid foreclosure: the extended right of rescission."
Fed wants homeowners to repay original mortgage before any refinancing is possible.

The Daily Telegraph: Spain to declare State of Alert over air traffic control strikes
Spain is due to declare a State of Alert at an emergency cabinet meeting called for 9am Saturday in the wake of a lightening walkout by Spanish air traffic controllers at 5pm on Friday which has since paralysed Spanish air space.

Washington Post: Constitutional provision jeopardizes sweeping food safety bill
The Food Safety Modernization Act may be derailed this session because of a constitutional provision giving the House authority for enacting new taxes and not the Senate. Certain provisions of S510 could be construed as taxes. If they are found to constitute new taxes (by the House Ways and Means Committee) the Senate vote -- and the law -- are null and void.

NBC LosAngeles: LA County's Library System May Check Out
The Los Angeles County Public Library system is facing tough financial straits in the next ten years and will either need to raise more funds through a special tax or reduce services to the community, according to a new report given to the Board of Supervisors.
The Library Commission Report given to the Supervisors on Tuesday details how the library system has been hit hard during the recession.
