Guardian.UK: Rogue Geoengineering Could "Hijack" World's Climate
The world's climate could be hijacked by a rogue country or wealthy individual firing small particles into the stratosphere, claims a warning that comes not from a new Hollywood movie trailer but a sober report from the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The deployment of independent, large-scale "geoengineering" techniques aimed at averting dangerous warming warrants more research because it could lead to an international crisis with unpredictable costs to agriculture, infrastructure and global stability, said the Geneva-based WEF in its annual Global Risks report before the Davos economic summit later this month. It also warned that ongoing economic weakness is sapping the ability of governments to tackle the growing threat of climate change.

Bioneers: Guy McPherson at Bluegrass Bioneers 2012
This is a video filmed October, 2012, of professor and blogger, Guy McPherson presenting a devastating report on climate change at Bluegrass Bioneers in Louisville, Kentucky. Much of what McPherson stated has been written about over the years at his blog, Nature Bats Last, but watching the video presentation and absorbing its contents in this way takes this information to an entirely new level. McPherson is a very funny guy, very entertaining, but his topic is not funny at all. This video is not for the feint of heart. If you don't have a strong spiritual core, it might be best not to watch. If you do decide to watch it, watch it to the very end. Don't stop part way. It's very long . . . probably an hour or more.

George Ure's UrbanSurvival.com: Hurricane Sandy: There Goes The Election?
Posted on George Ure's UrbanSurvival.com:
"Your own link says that the models show the storm turning into the NE states and not going to sea. Problem is that many of the factors present in 1991 Perfect Storm are also showing up for this one, including the Canadian cold air that some professionals are saying will "hook" or "capture" Sandy and bring it ashore, making a hurricane/nor'easter combo. If this happens and the winds hit the still foliated trees, there goes the power! And power could easily still be out on election day!"

Center for Catastrophic Risk Management, University of California, Berkeley: Deepwater Horizon Study Group Final Report on the Investigation of the Macondo Well Blowout
Center for Catastrophic Risk Management at the University of California Berkeley reports: The first progress report (May 24, 2010) concluded: “This disaster was preventable had existing progressive guidelines and practices been
followed. This catastrophic failure appears to have resulted from multiple violations of the laws of public resource development, and its proper regulatory oversight.”
The second progress report (July 15, 2010) concluded:
“…these failures (to contain, control, mitigate, plan, and clean-up) appear to be deeply rooted in a multi-decade history of organizational malfunction and shortsightedness. There were multiple opportunities to properly assess the likelihoods
and consequences of organizational decisions (i.e., Risk Assessment and Management) that were ostensibly driven by the management’s desire to “close the competitive gap”
and improve bottom-line performance. Consequently, although there were multiple chances to do the right things in the right ways at the right times, management’s perspective failed to recognize and accept its own fallibilities despite a record of recent accidents in the U.S. and a series of promises to change BP’s safety culture.”

Activist Post: The Nuclear Mafia Derails Democracy in Japan
“Bring us the living dead. People no one will miss.” - Fukushima official’s request to Yakuza
“TEPCO's involvement with anti-social forces and their inability to filter them out of the work-place is a national security issue ... Nuclear energy shouldn't be in the hands of the yakuza. They're gamblers and an intelligent person doesn't want them to have atomic dice to play with.” - Japanese Senator

slashdot: Complex Systems Theorists Predict We're About One Year From Global Food Riots
"In a 2011 paper(1), researchers at the Complex Systems Institute unveiled a model that accurately explained why the waves of unrest that swept the world in 2008 and 2011 crashed when they did. The number one determinant was soaring food prices. Their model identified a precise threshold for global food prices that, if breached, would lead to worldwide unrest.(2)"
