CollapseNet Update - August 2012
I want to apologize for the seeming slow-down of activity on CollapseNet in this last week. Much of our key staff and I were in Las Vegas to shoot a full-length documentary about the decline of Las Vegas since the housing bubble burst and the financial collapse. (We kept that quiet to avoid any invitations for attacks on the website or hardware.)
We have a lot of great footage and personal stories, as well as some very unexpected positive news to report. We will be editing the footage and refining our report over the next few weeks. It will be a members-only first release on CollapseNet, and because of the quality story we have to tell, we may pursue selling the documentary for air on a TV network (like HBO or Current, for example). All of our staff who participated in the film shoot are excited about the result and we are confident our members will appreciate the final product. We will try to get some previews made and posted soon. In the meantime, you can get a flavor of the quality of production to expect by watching the documentary Dust to Dust: The Health Effects of 9/11, which was narrated by Steve Buscemi and directed by our own Heidi Dehncke-Fisher. Heidi shot much of our footage and will be doing the final editing and production of our video.
We also did quite a bit of planning for CollapseNet's future. That future includes some additional site re-design to respond to member suggestions and to attract new members, additional new and regular video reports from members and staff, and a possible name change to help us shed the negative connotations that first-timers get from "Collapse Network". We are more than "doomers" - we are here to inform our members and give them additional tools to help survive the challenges that collapsing economies and environments bring, and that positive message unfortunately gets lost on many people simply because of our name. The final decision has not been made in this regard, so your input is very welcome ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).
To wrap up, we're back on station, re-energized and re-focused as a company. I think you'll appreciate the results in the weeks ahead. Thank you all again for your tremendous ongoing support.
Sincerely,
Wesley T. Miller
